Ocean’s Arrival is a new student-feature film written and directed by Giao Nguyen. This film also serves as Giao’s senior thesis project at Seattle Pacific University.

“On the winter solstice, four friends reunite at their family's beachside cabin after years apart. From the ocean, a mysterious stranger arrives seeking refuge, eventually pitting the friends against one another. Fantasy, fear, and reality blend together as the days unfold - culminating in a 60 minute psychological drama.”

On Thursday May 5th, 2022, Ocean’s Arrival premiered at SIFF Cinema Uptown in Seattle.

In August 2022, Ocean’s Arrival was awarded Best Picture at the 2022 West Sound Film Festival in Bremerton, WA, and was also an official selection in the 2022 Seattle Wine and Film Festival.

Directed & animated by Shanti Zschocke Musical score by Ariel Loud MassArt Animation Junior Final 2018 Project completed in 3 months. _ Inspired by the phases of both acceptance and rejection I faced when my ideologies began to stray from my family's religion. Done purely in hand-cut paper on a multi-plane, absent of digital editing besides color correction. Modified found image for collage & original photoshop illustrations for puppets.
